The band is currently in the middle of their promotional campaign for their third album, The sky is recording us: 100 years later, and we take a look back at their remarkable and atypical story.

Kaytranada, Charlotte Cardin, Les Cowboys Fringants… Quebec and Montreal are home to many stars with an international audience. Planet Giza has become one in its own right. Formed in Montreal, the band has captured the hearts of Montreal public and spread their music internationally. These three friends, who started out just making sounds together, are now producing albums with millions of listeners.
Planet Giza stands out from the crowd however, because it’s a band made up of three producers, DoomX, Rami B and Tony Stone, the last of whom is also the band’s singer/rapper. An unusual composition. It’s part of the band’s vision to break codes and renew certain practices.
Musically, the three friends are aiming for a retro-futuristic style. Old songs are important to them, but they also want to offer us new sonorities. With their jazz/soul and rnb mixes, and the addition of Tony Stone’s rapping and singing, Planet Giza always manages to surprise us. Their debut album, Added Sugar, is much more disco/soul in style than Ready When You Are, their latest release (2023), which is more hip-hop/jazz. Their popularity grew after this release.
RWYA‘s follow-up, The sky is recording us: 100 years later, continues their drive to break new ground. Indeed, to extend their promotional campaign for the album, the band thought of dividing the project’s release into 4 mini ep of three tracks, two of which have already been released. An unusual strategy, but one that works well given the success of the first two volumes. The album promises to be a musical masterpiece, with prods and lyrics that only Planet Giza is capable of delivering.

The band’s versatility is also something that sets them apart from other artists. Each of the members is also an accomplished composer and has already produced for other artists, sometimes even winning awards for their tracks. DoomX, for example, produced the SAOULÉ sound on La Fève’s ERRRR mixtape, which was certified gold.
Totally independent, Planet Giza is a group that has shared its love of music and passion internationally. We can’t wait to hear their next project in its entirety, which, given the first 6 tracks released, looks very promising.
